The Commonwealth and the UK: benefits and challenges for business and education
Let’s dive into the opportunities and obstacles of doing business and studying in the Commonwealth and the UK!
Join Northumbria University and invited expert guests for a round table discussion on the importance of collaboration between the Commonwealth, Higher Education and business sectors.
Since 1949, countries from all over the world have looked to join the Commonwealth for its shared vision, of development, democracy and peace. Today, the Commonwealth is made up of 56 member countries. It is home to 2.5 billion people and includes both advanced economies and developing countries.
At its core, the Commonwealth Secretariat is the intergovernmental organisation which co-ordinates and drives much of the Commonwealth’s work, including programmes to support young people, protecting the environment and delivering economic initiatives that boost trade and the economy, activity closely connected to the Higher Education sector. Collaboration between universities, overseas partners and business is vital to the success of the global Higher Education sector.
This event brings together key speakers from the Commonwealth Secretariat, Higher Education and industry to discuss the opportunities for collaboration and provide a platform to highlight important areas of development with the Commonwealth, and the role of universities and businesses in supporting this agenda.
