The future looks bright for North East Recycler

After a year of rapid post-pandemic growth, North East based waste management company CJM Recycling Limited has posted a big increase in turnover from £1.3m (2020-21) to £5.2m (2021-22).

The period has also seen significant reinvestment in the business, which last month moved both their operational site at Birtley and offices in Silverlink to a new 3 acre site in Wallsend.  The move will allow for further growth and the planned installation of a dedicated plastic recycling facility in Q4 this year.

Managing Director Colin McQuade commented: “It has been a year of expansion for the business and is testament to our knowledge and connections in the recycling industry, which has bounced back after the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Including the new site, the business has also purchased three electric vehicles, an articulated truck and trailer, two fork lift trucks and a telehandler to greatly increase capacity on site.

Director Jayde McQuade added: “It is an exciting time to be in the recycling industry.  We are committed to doing our part in making the world a better and more sustainable place.  We understand that businesses will be under increasing pressure to lower their carbon footprint in the coming years.  We aim to be at the forefront of that and are currently investigating a number of schemes which will allow us to pass on carbon savings through the processing of waste recycling.”

The business also expects to create at least 5 new jobs this year bringing the total operational and commercial team up to 20.

Colin concludes: “Our staff are the lifeblood of this business.  We have recruited well so far, bringing in a range of recycling and service-industry experience.  The key to our growth has been our service-first approach and that will always be a core value for CJM.  We’re ambitious and feel there is big space for smaller, more service-driven providers in the recycling industry.  In short, the future looks very bright.”

CJM Recycling provides a range of service-driven waste management solutions and works closely with manufacturers on plastic waste recycling.
