Horizon Works bolsters workforce with key appointments in creative, digital and operational positions

B2B marketing agency Horizon Works has strengthened its team with three new appointments, in a move that will support further growth.

The company’s client delivery team has been bolstered by the additions of Claudia Thompson as digital marketing specialist and Victoria Borrowdale as creative designer.

In addition, Susan Whitley has joined Horizon Works as office manager.

Horizon Works, which offers marketing, strategy, PR, digital and creative services, works across sectors including manufacturing, engineering, healthcare and life sciences, technology, professional services and the public sector.

Claudia, a Google-certified digital marketeer, has previously worked in in-house marketing roles in the technology and fin-tech sectors, and has managed a broad spectrum of marketing activity, including online paid advertising and website optimisation.

Victoria is a specialist in brand development and graphic design and has more than 11 years of creative agency experience in North East England.

Susan is a well known figure in the North East’s business community, having worked as operations manager at The Entrepreneurs’ Forum for more than a decade. She has also performed administrative roles for several high profile North East businesses and charities.

Horizon Works recently invested in new headquarters – a 2335 sq ft purpose-built two storey office building on Northumberland Business Park, near Cramlington, Northumberland – to support further expansion and staff growth.

The company, which was founded in 2010 by managing director Samantha Vassallo, supports innovators in complex industries with a full range of marketing services. It is the marketing partner of The Advanced Manufacturing Forum (AMF) and plays an active role in industry networks and clusters including the North East Automotive Alliance (NEAA), North East England Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC), Digital Union and NOF Energy.

Commenting on her appointment, Claudia Thompson said: “Having worked alongside Horizon Works in a previous role, I was really impressed with the company’s ethos and strategic approach to marketing, and witnessed first-hand how the team worked from a client’s perspective. I’m therefore thrilled to have been given the opportunity to join Horizon Works and bring my skills to bear for its clients in my new position.”

Victoria Borrowdale said: “Horizon Works is known for supporting visionary, innovative businesses and these companies are really exciting to work with from a creative and brand perspective. I’m excited to be taking on a new challenge and to be working with a multi-disciplinary team of strategic marketing, PR, digital and creative specialists.”

Susan Whitley added: “I was aware of Horizon Works through its involvement with The Entrepreneurs’ Forum and it’s exciting to now be a part of the business as we move forward with our new headquarters. The company has a really friendly feel to it, something that I greatly value and I’m looking forward to playing a part in its ongoing development.”

Samantha Vassallo founder and managing director of Horizon Works, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Susan, Victoria and Claudia to Horizon Works – it’s fantastic to have them on board as we enter a new growth phase.

“Victoria and Claudia will bring a great deal of marketing expertise and creative flair to our client work and Susan has a fabulous track record in operations and administration, which will be a huge asset as we grow.”

Horizon Works’ client base includes INVISTA Performance Technologies, one of the world’s largest integrated producers of chemical intermediates, Fera Science Ltd (formerly the Food and Environment Research Agency) which is based at the National Agri-Food Innovation Campus near York; Middlesbrough-based hydraulic engineering specialist Industrial & Marine Hydraulics (IMH); community charity Groundwork South Tyneside; expanded metal mesh manufacturer Expanded Metal Company, commercial law firm Watson Burton; business communications and systems provider Cellular Solutions; and asbestos management consultancy Franks Portlock.
