EDM ZONE WINS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

AMF member, EDM Zone is the first engineering company in the North East of England to win Insider Media’s Manufacturing Apprenticeship/Training Scheme Award, at the Made in the UK Conference and Dinner.

Ouseburn-based manufacturing facility, EDM Zone has won the prestigious industry accolade for its development of engineering apprenticeships.

The Made in the UK awards are a national celebration bringing together manufacturers from across the UK in a variety of sectors such as aerospace and engineering. Winners are selected on their proven innovation, originality, commitment to sustainability and desire for growth, qualities that EDM Zone upholds as a business committed to nurturing future engineers.

Competing against all other UK manufacturers, EDM Zone won the Manufacturing Apprenticeship/Training Scheme Award, for its creation of 10 apprentice engineer roles in a variety of machining sectors, with the aim of introducing the younger generation to engineering in the North East.

Celebrating its fifth year, the award ceremony was held at the Titanic Hotel, Liverpool on the 20th of June 2018. Judges of the event said: “This is a great achievement for EDM Zone. Its story was inspirational, and the exceptional retention rate of apprentices enjoyed by EDM Zone clearly contributed to its recent growth.”

Established in 2007, EDM Zone is a customer-focused electrical discharge machining specialist, providing high precision engineering solutions to businesses across a range of industries, working alongside a diverse mix of professionals including: knee surgeons, watch makers, bespoke high-end furniture designers, engineers, inventors and more.

EDM Zone prides itself on its immersive approach to the research and development stages of its projects and ability to understand the challenges each business faces in sourcing high precision parts.
