AMTECH Target the Difficult to Process Carbon Fibre Nylon 12 Material

Among their many expert services Amtech Rapid Prototyping continue to expand and now have an additional site opposite the original premises in South Shields which gives them an additional 550 sq meters floor space.  This has allowed them to bring all spray painting in-house with their own temperature-controlled spray bay and two new SLS S-Pro 60 machines which are currently running Carbon Fibre filled Nylon 12 material.

Today Amtech Rapid Prototyping comprises of 25 staff with impressive knowledge and experience in the rapid prototyping industry, services include all types of prototype production, including 3D printing and vacuum casting.

Last year they purchased a new site so they could expand their in-house services which include two new SLS S-Pro 60 machines.  To maximise this investment the directors took the decision to run the difficult to process Carbon Fibre filled Nylon 12 material giving some of their hi-tech customers a service they were, at the time, buying offshore.  The main benefits are excellent stiffness and mechanical properties; an alluring black detailed surface finish, resistance to warping at elevated temperatures and weight reduction.

Ian Judd, Managing Director, said ‘Strategically we had an opportunity to significantly increase the spend of some of our hi-tech clients, but we did not want to outsource this service.  Buying the new machine it has not only paid off but given us the chance to win more customers that want to take advantage of Carbon Fibre prototyping’.   Ian explained staff training and continued investment has kept Amtech ahead of its competition and being based in the North East their pricing model gives the southern bureau’s food for thought.
