AMF Meeting – Attracting Talent into Engineering – Tyne Met College
In December we visit Tyne Metropolitan College to host a meeting to discuss the future workforce for our sector and how we engage with tomorrow’s workforce to highlight the fantastic opportunities available to anyone entering the manufacturing and engineering sector.
Skills, and more specifically the skills shortage continues to have a significant impact on our sector. We know that we need to better engage with education, young people and the wider community to ensure that the right skills are being taught for our future needs whilst also making sure the curriculum works for the learners too.
By engaging with the college, we hope to help with the connectivity between education and business, whilst also talking directly to students to showcase how fantastic our industry is and the amazing opportunities it can open up to them.
This is not a one-size, one-off event and will help form a series of future events that AMF will take into next year and beyond. We want your input, attendance, ideas and collective knowledge to help form a better understanding and direction for the future.
The event will be a lunchtime. We will get fed by the students cooking in the onsite restaurant and then have a tour of the engineering facilities whilst the learners are working on various projects so we can see first-hand what they are learning and the facilities on offer.
Agenda:
12:00 – Arrival, lunch, networking
12:30 – Introductions, and group discussion with possible presentation from students
13:20 – Tour of facilities with some Q&A
14:00 – 14:15 – Close.
